On 23rd of March 2011, origami workshops for preschoolers from the City Nursery School in Prochowice (Lower Silesian voivodeship) took place. The event was led by Adam Szewczyk – one of the Polish Origami Association instructors – and co-funded by the European Union project „Creative work of kids and parents enriches”. At the beginning, Adam met all young participants and their parents, passing „a spark of friendship”. Afterwards, children listened to some basic information about the art of origami, its variants and familiarised themselves with proper vocabulary. Later on, Adam presented some origami models, which he brought in. Of course, as always, he received a lot of questions about the time spent on folding or the size of the paper.
The workshop part was the most interesting, as everyone – both youngsters and their parents – could test their manual abilities ;-). Folding of several traditional models like samurai’s helm, a crane or a lily appeared to be quite challenging. Nevertheless, everyone succeeded and all their models could be displayed. At the end, a group photo was taken.
